Body care

Hydrating vs. moisturizing: many body care routines fall short because they confuse the two. Yet hydration (adding water) and nourishment (adding oils, often called moisturizing) are distinct and complementary. Understanding the difference is key to improving how your skin feels over time, especially when it's dry or uncomfortable.

Hydration is about water. Dehydrated skin lacks water and needs products that help replenish it. A hydrating body lotion plays a central role here: it absorbs quickly and brings the skin the water it needs.

Nourishment, on the other hand, is about lipids. Dry skin lacks oils, which weakens the skin barrier. Without enough nourishment, the water you add evaporates quickly. Products like body butter or scented body oil help support that barrier and make hydration last longer.

For comfortable skin, hydration and nourishment need to work together. A balanced routine starts by hydrating, then nourishing. This combination is especially important for black and mixed skin, which is more prone to chronic dryness.
