Body care

Itchy skin after a shower is a clear signal from your skin. Most often, it points to a weakened skin barrier. Hot water, harsh cleansers and a lack of suitable care are the most common causes.

When skin loses its natural oils, it becomes more permeable and more sensitive. Water evaporating quickly from the surface makes that discomfort worse. To help, it's essential to follow a post-shower routine right away.

Applying a hydrating body lotion to still slightly damp skin helps bring back moisture. Follow it with a body butter or a scented body oil to help seal it in and support the skin barrier.

With the right, consistent habits, skin gradually feels more comfortable and supple. If the itching persists, keeps you up at night, or comes with a rash, patches or hives, see a doctor or dermatologist.
